Long-Needle Pine Straw Project Conway, SC
115 bales of long-needle pine straw put over 3,700 square feet of landscaping beds in Conway, SC.
We first started this project by trimming all hedges in the landscaping beds, being sure to avoid any shrubs that are forming their buds(azaleas, camellias). We were also asked to trim rose bushes and hydrangeas, which we did by removing any dead branches and clearing out the inside of the plant, which discourages fungus from killing the shrubs and allows air and light to penetrate inside of the plants, making them healthier.
The old pine straw that existed in the landscaping beds along with the clippings from the hedges, were blown out as per the homeowner's request. The clippings and old straw were mulched into the yard with our lawnmowers.
Finally, we laid the new straw, being sure to add a healthy amount the each bed(one bale covering every 25 square feet). We laid the straw 6"-12" in front of where the beds began so that when we leaf-blew the straw into the bed we would create a rolling effect, giving the job a nice finished look.
